La Quarry of Aggregates of Châtillonnais, jointly operated by SCHMIT TP, EXECUTIONER, and Colas, is specialized in the production of gravel. We questioned Emeline Schmit, administrative and financial director of Schmit TP, who shared her feedback with us.
For over a year now, SCHMIT TP has been using the software Dune Borne to manage the exits and entries of their drivers on site.
Prior to the introduction of the Dune Borne software, the career was facing significant logistical and operational challenges. Manually managing vehicle flows, i.e. arrivals and exits, site traffic, and tipping, caused a significant loss of time, especially for employees responsible for both loading and destocking.
Paper management, in addition to being slow, increased the risk of errors and complicated the recording of information for several trucks, which significantly slowed down operations.
Find out how Dune was able to respond to these challenges.
Dune: a technological solution for the management of vehicle flows
The Quarry of Aggregates of Châtillonnais has set up Dune Borne, a software designed to manage vehicle flows on the site. Dune Borne facilitates truck arrival and exit processes, optimizes site traffic, and makes diversion more efficient, safe, and reliable.
This implementation aimed to increase career autonomy by allowing more fluid management without requiring the constant presence of employees to manually record transactions, thus contributing to a better range of operating hours.
The collaboration between SCHMIT TP, EXECUTIONER and COLAS was crucial for the integration of this solution. Each company took care of specific aspects of deploying Dune Borne, from commercial management and pre-billing to financial monitoring and quality, safety, and environment (QSE), thus ensuring a smooth transition to this new system.
Observed results
The introduction of Dune Borne has transformed quarry operations.
Saves time and increases productivity
”The main benefits have been a significant reduction in the loss of time associated with manually managing the recording of incoming and outgoing vehicle flows, allowing employees to focus more on productive tasks like loading and destocking. This allowed us to free up around 20% of the working time per day for our tipping agents” explains Emeline Schmit, administrative and financial director of SCHMIT TP.
This process optimization not only improved team productivity, but also led to a significant increase in customer satisfaction, reflecting the increased efficiency of field operations.
Simplifying invoicing
The ease of exporting data and the ability to activate or deactivate a customer were particularly appreciated features, simplifying customer management and billing. This transition to digital has made it possible to move from slow paper management to a fast digital solution, increasing the overall efficiency of quarry operations by more than 35%.
Data reliability
The solution also effectively addressed issues related to late payments and uncooperative behavior through improved traceability and increased reliability of the data collected.
So, the implementation of Dune Borne allowed the Carrière des Agglomats du Châtillonnais to overcome its operational challenges, to improve safety and efficiency on the site, and to better manage its vehicle flows. The results obtained demonstrate the positive impact of the Dune solution on career autonomy and efficiency.
